jones

My sister Syd's photo got onto a Jones Soda label!
It's as exciting as as a Golden Ticket hunt!

She's on the Black Cherry Zilch flavor. It hit stores last week...

Here's the shot up close. So you know what to look for. Let me know if you find it because we have yet to secure an actual bottle for posterity.

success!

Remember how after a visit to Boston last fall, I decided I wanted to move there? Well, now I'm going to!...18 days a year.

Before I explain, let's back this boat up to 7 years ago, when, newly home from my mission, I set my heart on getting an MFA degree in creative writing. It had actually been in the plans for ages: I would graduate college, go on an LDS mission, return and get accepted into a graduate program to study fiction, become a beloved author, make a few million, and then die at some point (okay, really, the part after grad school was more of a loose outline).

So, I applied to four schools...and got rejected from all of them. It was gut wrenching, to say the least. But I eventually got over it, kept writing, and moved on with my life. And then a few months ago, I got the bug to go again. So, once again, I went through the intensive application process, applied to four schools...and got accepted to all of them! If it sounds like I'm bragging here, I'm not. I'm actually gloating. Come on! Remember that horrific rejection from seven years ago?? I need a paragraph or two to bask in long-awaited success!

Anyway, what could be simpler than picking the university in Boston?? This program follows a low-residency model--meaning, that I study with a mentor online and then go out to the campus twice a year for a 9-day stint of intensive workshops and lectures. I can't wait!

And you, dear blog reader, will clearly be subjected to hearing all about it.
