a labor recipe

I first read about birth socks here, and then again in one of my pregnancy books. Tonight I've been having a lot of back cramping (something Stephanie says is probably a sign of dilation--hooray!) so I made one. And it's been wonderful. So, for all you anticipating laborers out there, here's the how-to:

Fill a white tube sock (I used one of Dave's for its length) with about 2 1/2 cups of rice, enough to make a supple pack that can hold heat for 20 min. Sew or secure the end with a rubberband. Microwave the sock for about two to three minutes. I added 5 drops of lavender essential oil to my rice for some aromatherapy.
